This is where my heart does a little dance

The adventure continues and like my previous blog about New Orleans stated,  this city has given me some strange feelings that I have never experienced before. And when I say strange, I mean beautiful. Because yes, New Orleans is unlike any other city I have seen in the States and part of the reason for that can be dug up in the vibrant history where we find out that french colonies actually  founded the Big Easy and they filled it with a ton of style. Later on, it was ruled by Spanish for about 40 years and during that time, two fires swept away the typical french colonial buildings. After that, the influence of the architecture came indirectly with the form of Creole style, which mixed French and Spanish architecture, with some elements from the Caribbean. Can you even imagine that? It’s stunning!

As Friedrich Nietzsche said in his book Twilight of the Idols, “without music, life would be a mistake”. I hope Mr. Nietzsche is going to forgive me but I want to add some “art” to his quote so it will all be perfect in the end. Without music and art, life would be a mistake, indeed. New Orleans is everything but a mistake because here all the streets are singing and art is hugging you at every corner (I have posted a video on my Instagram where you can hear the street and feel the vibe).

This is where my heart does a little dance

By the way, I have to bring up Europe, I can’t help it! When the night settles, New Orleans, just like Cinderella, turns into Amsterdam and Bourbon Street turns into the Red Light District. People drink until dawn, you can spot a few sex shops down the street and all what’s missing from the picture is that window legal prostitution. The rest is all the same. A little crazy, a little smelly, a little trashy.

I have to warn you that if you ever come visit, please don’t seek out the true New Orleans on Bourbon Street. This city is so much more than that! The lower French Quarter is where you should walk dressed in fancy clothes wearing the best cologne you have carried with you. It is quiet, residential eye-candy wherever you look. Now add discrete courtyards and lush gardens to the mix, pink trees and freshly painted fences. Sounds like heaven doesn’t it?

And I am not even done with everything yet…
